Evolution in Kansas
"Evolution in Kansas" started as a partnership between Pacho Velez, a documentary film maker, Jonathan Flombaum, a cognitive psychologist at Yale University, and Sasha Statman-weil, a writer, formerly living in New Orleans, to explore the recently adopted changes to Kansas' statewide high school science curriculum. The new curriculum suggests that students should be taught about "holes" in evolutionary theory, and encourages the teaching of alternatives.
Our website attempts to situate the debate over evolution in the community where it is taking place and to explore the political process through which the changes were implemented. Follow the links to watch clips from the interviews that we collected, to learn more about us, or to find out how to contribute to the project.
